Ontario Providing Direct GO Bus Connection to Pearson from Hamilton, Oakville and Mississauga
Enhanced Bus Service Part of Significant Improvements to GO Transit
August 19, 2015
Ontario is making it easier for commuters in the GTHA to get around on public transit by providing residents of Hamilton, Oakville and Mississauga with a direct GO Bus connection to Pearson Airport.
Starting September 5, existing express bus trips on GO Bus Route 47J that run from Hamilton to Square One, with stops in Oakville and Mississauga, will be extended to Pearson Airport. The route will merge with GO Bus Route 40 that runs from Richmond Hill to Pearson Airport. This merged route will now be known simply as Route 40 and will operate every 30 minutes during the weekday rush-hour period and hourly during the weekends and weekday off-peak periods.
This project is part of the largest infrastructure investment in Ontario’s history—more than $130 billion over 10 years, which will support more than 110,000 jobs per year on average, with projects such as roads, bridges, transit systems, schools and hospitals.
Ontario’s long-term infrastructure plan will help connect regions, develop new economic opportunities and improve quality of life for Ontarians by supporting critical infrastructure projects in cities, towns, and rural and remote communities all across the province.
Improving transit is part of the government’s plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.

“We’re easing congestion and meeting people’s needs by making it easier to get to the airport, work, school and appointments with these new GO bus options and destinations.”

“Our unprecedented public investments are making transit a better choice for commuters. This is further proof of our government’s commitment to making the daily commute and quality of life better for Ontario families.”
— Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation
“We’re always looking at ways to make it easier for people to take GO Transit. Improved GO bus routes are an important step in ensuring existing and future customers can more easily travel around the GTHA.”
— Greg Percy, President, GO Transit
